Dons' musings about O Fallon Mo : The Butterfly House in Chesterfield Missouri....

The Butterfly House in Chesterfield Missouri....

The Butterfly House in Chesterfield Missouri....

Have you ever lived in an area for a long time and still don't know anything about some of the things available?  That's me; I have lived in O Fallon Missouri since 1993 and have heard wonderful things about the Butterfly House when it opened in 1998 but have never paid it a visit.  After visiting it last week I am sure that I will be going back more often.

The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House opened to the public in late 1998 and in 2001 it merged with the Missouri Botanical Garden, another place for me to visit.  The Butterfly House strives to teach students, with on-site education, of ALL ages about butterflies, conservation, ecology, gardening and scientific exploration.

The Butterfly House offers outreach programs that bring the wonder of butterflies and other insects to classrooms and groups throughout the metropolitan St. Louis area.  These outreach programs can be customized to meet the special needs of your group.

The Butterfly house is located in Faust Park in Chesterfield Missouri and is well worth your time to visit.  Check out the membership opportunities as well as becoming a volunteer or even having a private event.

Great highlights, Don for the Butterfly House!  It sounds like a wonderful place to tour - we just went to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences over the weekend and they have a Conservatory - it was SO cool!  The butterflies would just come and land you you and hang out.

I too have attractions in my area that I haven't been to that I need to visit. Travel 1,000 to go see/experience something but won't go around the corner, how nutty am I. Bet the Butterfly House was great.

Hi Don, I love the building itself with the giant Butterfly at the end of it. This must be one of the first of it's kind? And it seems to afford some great learning experiences. Butterfly House is a very cool name. Glad after all this time you took the time to see this and now share it with us.

Don...   What an attraction!  The butterfly house seems almost movie like, and I bet the tour was just as incredible as its name!  :)

Don, OK, this didn't go where I thought it would.  I was expecting photos of a house - an architectural statement in the form of a big old butterfly.  This is much nicer!

Hi Don!  Oh, the places you can go...

I've lived here over 25 years and have yet to see everything either--I can't wait for retirement to start to work on that bucket list that has turned into a TUB list!

I love tha building and the programs that they offer are wonderful for both children and adults.  Thanks for sharing!
